Thursday, August 11, 2016 Departing Blind River, ON, Canada for Drummond Island, MI, USA

We cleared customs at 11:30am. Our customs agent made our re-entry into the U.S. most welcoming and pleasant. Yesterday we cooked up our fresh veggies and had a lovely, bountiful meal. Today we ate the last of our fresh fruits during our 5 hour crossing. That made the answer to the question, “Do you have any Canadian fruits or vegetables on board?” a resounding, “Not a bit!” It was with great relunctance that we bid a fair adieu to Canada. We crossed from Clayton and Alexandria Bay, NY to Kingston, Ontario on June 23... 49 days ago. Ontario,Canada has been a great home-away-from-home. After spending 31/2 days in Kingston and one night on anchor as we made our way to Trent, we spent 22 days in the Trent-Severn Waterway. The Georgian Bay was slightly short-changed due to our 8 days away as we answered the call of a departed family member back in Maine. Six lovely days were spent in Georgian Bay. Nine delightful days were spent in The North Channel. We loved our forty-one days spent in a very special part of the world! Tonight after midnight we hope to see a rare sight in the heavens...a meteor outburst! We are not known for late night activities, but this one seems worth getting up for.
