July 31, 2016: Leaving Britt in Byng Inlet for the Bustards 24 miles

The small-craft route directed us down Cunningham’s Channel, past the Golden Sword Island anchorage and through Roger’s Cut/Gut, a narrow section that was blasted through the rocks many years ago. As we approached The Bustards, we decided to make our way between Strawberry and Tie Islands and anchor near the opening into the Gun Barrel. Dave and his sweet dog Winston, new-found friends from the Josephine Islands, dinghied through the shallow water of the opening to welcome us. Dave and his wife have had lots of experience sailing through the 30,000 Islands; Dave was very generous with his great tips! Looper boats SaSea Sally and Trawler Life were already tucked in near us with their sterns tied off to the shore. Before long Clay and Sally and Mike and Cathy dinghied through the Gun Barrel opening and intoduced us to their Canadian guiding friends Randy and Claudia on Heart Tug. For the first time we were about to join a caravan/ convoy/ flotilla!
