Aug. 30- Sept.1, 2016 South Haven, MI with lots of boats; only one mile canal of water.

We cruised past Holland when we found we had “do-able seas” at 10 am. The South Haven Municiple Marina added a third day to our reservation over the phone and we went from a 23-mile day to 52. Yeah! Finding five other Looper boats in town, we shared some past stories and compared notes on our upcoming plans. Chicago is finally looming on the horizon; each of us will do The Windy City in our own style and time frame. In the meantime, we have The Michigan Maritime Museum and the Thursday Night Concert in the Park here in South Haven. Featured prominently at the museum were stories of the wrecks that litter the coastline of Lake Michigan, some that remain mysteries even to today. The history of Fishing Tugs and impressive capabilities of The U.S. Livesaving Service through the years also made our visit memorable. The concert featured cabaret-style music with the delightful vocalist playing both uke and guitar, a banjo player and a stand-up base. The park was filled with an appreciative audience. Folks in sailboats, kayaks and rubber dinghies all lingered along the canal wall to enjoy the 1 1/2 hour sunset performance. Fabulous!
