Southport,North Carolina

As we headed north back in early June, we scooted right past Southport, NC. and out to Bald Head Island. There we celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary. Now as we made our way back down the coast, it was time to get acquainted with Southport. Trawler owners Robert and Kay Creech live right on the waterfront and Robert was waiting at the City Dock to catch our lines and welcome us to their neighborhood. They are the Port Captains and welcome a lot of cruisers to join them on their front porch as the sun sets. We met several new couples and greatly enjoyed “The Gathering”. Halloween Spirit was everywhere and the crisp air made us dig out our long pants and sweatshirts. Southport has great historical significance and every nook and cranny was bursting with pride and stories. We made it our goal to take it all in!
